- Focusing solely on excellent content might make your posts too spread out in time and you will eventually lose your audience. Make sure that this does not happen.
- Readability of the content should be considered a priority.
- You can write about things as your pick them up. You do not need to know everything in advance to start writing. Moreover, teaching (or, in this case, blogging) can serve as a way to speed up learning.
- Keep your blog simple with the least amount of plugins you can do with. Having more plugins means that when your website crashes, it will be harder to trace the problem to its origin.
- Lastly, blogging and gaining audience is not a quick process. It takes effort and time and, hence, you should not be expecting fast results.

For me, blogging has been a great way to store and improve my personal notes. Pretty much every article I write deals with something I had been doing or researching during my work week while at my day job. Being able to store my notes on a searchable website prevents me from having to go out to Google and “re-learn/discover” things I haven’t used in awhile….and it helps others around the world all at the same time!
I can’t tell you how many times I have received messages/comments that an individual had been searching in the Google trenches for a solution and eventually found exactly what they needed by landing on an article I wrote (all you bloggers know that’s the best feeling in the world!). I have also learned tremendously from others improving on my initial methods, which has helped me to continue improving my knowledge on the subject.
Yes, there’s money to be made (if you put in A TON of effort), but I would say if you just want to further your professional development, having a blog and interacting with a community will expand your knowledge in ways you never that possible!
